Enoch, Entire Bible, and Gnostic Gospels

Hello everyone, about a week ago I completed a goal I had had since my early 20s. I completed the first book of Enoch. When I was younger I had tried to read it several times but I had been unable to get through the first few chapters. A big part of why this was possible recently was because I found a great narration on Audible. The narration is done by Christopher Glynn. It was very engaging.

I also finished the entire canon part of the Bible in February and I am a few months from reading through it again. This motivated me to download Elaine Pagel’s audible The Gnostic Gospels to receive more context around these writings. I had been interested in this topic for a while. I also have a great resource for anyone who wants to read the gnostic gospels directly for free:

My Psychiatrist said for the first time im stable

I’m sharing this to spread awareness about mental health. I was diagnosed with schizophrenia when I was 22 and since then my life has felt like a massive uphill battle. At my psychiatrist appointment on Wednesday, she said she thinks this is the first time ever that I have been fully stable. This is a really big deal for me as i have struggled with paranoia and delusions for a long time. It feels like finally being able to breathe for the first time in a long time. In addition to this i am also an autistic person who experiences sensory overload, and this also makes the ruminations worse.

I hope that by sharing my experience I will empower others to seek treatment and be compassionate towards those with mental health issues. My Filipino wife and I will soon be moving into a new house with my parents so they can help take care of our special needs daughter, Zora, who is 3. She has cerebral palsy because of a stroke she suffered while in the NICU. Our family has banded together to help take care of her. The new house has a nice basement living space for my wife and i and Zora will be in one of the upstairs bedrooms across the hall from her grandparents. I paid for half the closing costs on the new house.

Everyone in our family loves the new house. I hope this message resonates with someone and reminds people that there can be a future for people with conditions like autism and schizophrenia.

Shadow Work

I’ve been in therapy doing shadow work. I’ve also been working on a lot of my other issues. To be honest I am feeling more content than at any other time of my life. There are still days where I struggle, trying to make peace with the past. But I really feel like when I started therapy on the last day of March, the timing was perfect to integrate some of the pain from the past and really learn how to move forward. I wouldn’t trade my current happiness for anything.

I can’t recommend therapy enough, but if you do it you have to enter it with the right mindset. It wouldn’t have helped me very much if I had still been stuck in my old thought patterns. It helps to do a lot of journaling before your first session so you can really bring into the room the issues that are important to you. Like for example it had always been a goal of mine to do shadow work in therapy but I had never been able to get myself to remember to bring it up.

I also really recommend, if you want to get into shadow work, reading or listening to Man and His Symbols by Carl Jung. It is written by Carl Jung but it is accessible to laymen. I’ve been learning how to integrate my three parts of Self, which keeps my life far smoother and more regulated. Therapy is a great gift, and if you are going through any struggles it would be a great idea to try it.

YouVersion Bible app changed my life

I downloaded a Bible app last June, and it has honestly changed my life.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sirma.mobile.bible.android

It’s called YouVersion. I had read the first five books of the Bible when I was younger, after starting a year long Bible plan. This was in my early 20s. But.. I became overloaded and never finished it.

Last June, I started a 6 month Bible reading plan, and finished the entire Bible by February. I believe finishing the Bible should be the first thing on anyone’s bucket list.

This app is completely free, in many languages, and it lets you listen along as you read, which is a great help for the genealogy sections.

Hello

3rd Rail Radio is Missing from Slacker Radio

I listen to Slacker radio frequently on my droid, and today when I tried to listen to one of my favorite pre-made rap channels, 3rd Rail Radio, I found it had been taken off.

It was in their ‘spotlight’ section, so I’m not really expecting it back, but was kind of disappointed.

Do you listen to internet radio of any kind? Do you program your own stations, or use the pre-made ones?

socio

The confidence to think for oneself is usually only gained through one of two ways: possessing all the traits deemed useful and being a superior member of society, or possessing almost none of them and becoming disenfranchised altogether. Therefore, the people that do the most creative thinking are either the ones that rule society or the ones that are outcasted from it.The outcasted members, while not necessarily useless, have not developed any skills that can be fundamentally adapted to the whole, and as such are more prone to developing views apart from the norm, aiding them in pursuit of personal power and freedom. The opposite end of the hierarchical spectrum can be seen by the popularization of cult ideals. Certain elite members of society can be shown as having creative talent by popularizing the ideals that allow themselves more power and freedom through the subjection of the lower classes. While it’s likely don’t have as clear an understanding of the process, the middle of the spectrum, the people that haven’t given philosophic ideals as much insight, are also directed by personal motivation. This is because they live within the system the upper class has set up, a climate in which it is personally disadvantageous to promote or think about unpopular ideals.

Notice that the aims for all three distinct groups is ultimately the same: the consolidation of all available power based on that group’s given intellectual and social abilities. The stratification for such groups however, is not clear cut across all populations, and can vary depending on a number of factors. For example, a lower middle class father who has a family in the United States, may find himself at a such a severe financial disadvantage that he begins to formulate a philosophy antagonistic towards the rich elite. He may use themes such as personal freedom and the destruction of corporatism. However, this same father could also be very secure and content with his place within his family, and would never think of applying such themes to his children. In another example, an average American may rally against the oppression and statism taking place against him by his own country while he continues to purchase Chinese made products. By analyzing this seemingly hypocritical behavior that takes place we can draw one of two conclusions: either that every person on earth is a sociopath ruthlessly campaigning towards their own self-interests despite the needs of others, or that it is much easier to notice when we are being oppressed than it is when we are oppressing others.

This very lack of notice suggests sociopathic tendencies, but for the sake of argument we will dismiss that as an unavoidable part of human behavior, that is, it is simply impossible for us to notice everything and those things that threaten our existence take precedence over those that may threaten the existence or freedoms of another. Could, then, our dismissal of the plights of others just be a byproduct of such an evolutionary based method of prioritizing? When organisms in a population have limited resources, they necessarily destroy each other in order to survive. However, if such traits are present, what happens to the same population when it is given both self-awareness and a concept of time, and virtually unlimited resources?
